Stock Market News & Events On Monday, October 31, 2022

Monday will see a global focus on economic data. Eurozone CPI, Core CPI, and third quarter GDP come out during the early morning session. Later on during the day, the European Central Bank’s Lane speaks. As far as U.S. economic data is concerned, only a small bit is coming out on Halloween. Chicago PMI data for October gets released just after the stock market opens.

Stock Market News & Events On Tuesday, November 1, 2022

Tuesday begins the week’s flurry of economic data & central bank discussions. UK Manufacturing PMI of October comes out at 5:30 AM ET. October data readouts for US Manufacturing PMI and the ISM Manufacturing, Employment & New Orders will get released between 9:45 AM ET and 10 AM ET.

The first round of jobs data will also come out with Tuesday’s JOLTS Job Openings report at 10 AM ET. Thirty minutes after the market closes, oil stocks could be in focus thanks to the API Weekly Crude Stock report.

Stock Market News & Events On Wednesday, November 2, 2022

Wednesday and Thursday will see the bulk of this week’s economic activity, potential catalysts, and central bank events. German Manufacturing PMI and October Unemployment data come out just as the US premarket session begins. Eurozone Manufacturing PMI and US ADP Non-Farm Employment data for October will also get released before Wednesday’s 9:30 AM ET opening bell. We’ll get crude inventories at 10:30 AM ET. But it all may take a back seat to the November wrap-up of the FOMC meeting.

The latest FOMC statement and Press Conference will be at the center of the spotlight in addition to the latest rate decision on Wednesday afternoon. More times than not, the Fed meeting and FOMC announcement are major market-moving events.

This latest could dictate the pace for the rest of the year as most expect a 75 basis point rate hike but will look for clues as to whether the Fed will begin slowing the speed & size of their future hikes.

Stock Market News & Events On Thursday, November 3, 2022

Thursday presents an active day for global economic and central bank events. The ECB’s Panetta and President Lagarde speak early in the morning, New York time. More UK economic data will also get reported before U.S. markets open, with Composite and Services PMI read-outs.

Eurozone unemployment data from September, the BoE rate decision, U.S. initial & continuing jobless claims, Q3 non-farm productivity, September’s trade balance, and Q3 unit labor costs are reported before the 9:30 AM ET opening bell rings. Central bank speakers from the ECB (Elderson) and BoE (Bailey) will also come during the U.S. premarket session.

As far as the rest of the day, shortly after the opening bell, U.S. services PMI, September factory order data, and October ISM non-manufacturing PMI & employment data come out. We’ll also see BoE Governor Bailey take the podium at 10:15 AM ET.

Stock Market News & Events On Friday, November 4, 2022

Following what will likely be a massive economic data hang-over no matter what gets reported, Friday will ease out the busy week. UK Construction PMI for October, U.S. average hourly earnings, non-farm payrolls, average weekly hours, and unemployment data get reported. The ECB’s President Lagarde and BoE MPC member Pill will also speak before the U.S. markets open on November 4th.

Later in the session, FOMC member Rosengren speaks at 10 AM ET, and the final commodity report with the Baker Hughes rig count rounds out the day as far as notable events are concerned.
